The authors message in her afterword of the ‘Finding Myself’ series, is so very poignant for this work of true romance and relatable tale of the journey through life, love and introspection.
After the story in her first book, I wasn’t sure what Corina had in store for Olivia and Polo. After all, they had ventured into a relationship, both harboring unearthed secrets that invaded their mindsets. By the end of that volume, it seemed that their whirlwind romance had set them into different directions to further explore their individual destinies.
However, love… is a funny thing. It lingers in the heart even when all the outlying, physical senses are trending differently. The logic of what seems like ‘doable’ and reasonable relationships are no match for the passionate, bonded connections that love places at the center of our being.
So is the problematic journey for both Polo and Olivia. In this volume we really get a sense that Polo’s search for his sexual identity is tied to both his celebrity status and his desire to be accepted for whomever he is. Meanwhile for Olivia, it is a tug of war between settling for a devoted partner like Ivan, or solving the continued entangled feelings she still has about Polo.
This story is well told, and further, it’s obvious that Corina has doubled down on her abilities to unveil the human adventures into love and self-discovery. The pace and writing kept me embraced into the storytelling. It was great! As deeply involved as I found myself with these characters in the first book… I was even more so in the sequel and look forward to the next installment of this journey.
